Board of Advice

The Board of Advice consists of renowned professors at the University of Amsterdam who support and assist the committee in the organization of the conference. They are involved in the organizational process from the start and offer advice concerning practical matters such as the program and content but also assist in the acquisition of speakers. 

 


Prof. dr. Lex Hoogduin

Professor in Monetary Economics University of Amsterdam

Professor Lex Hoogduin currently teaches Monetary Economics at the University of Amsterdam as well as being a member of the Central Bureau  of Statistics and holding an advisory position at the Bank of International Settlements. He graduated in Economics from the Rijksuniversiteit Groningen and has been an advisor of Wim Duisenberg, an economist at the Robeco Group, director of Iris and last but not least director of the Dutch Central Bank.

 

 

 

 


Prof. dr. Arnoud Boot

Professor in Finance University of Amsterdam

Professor Arnoud Boot currently teaches Finance at the University of Amsterdam as well as serving as an advisor to both the Dutch and Swedish Central Bank and being a Crown member of the Social and Economic Council. He graduated in Economics from the University of Tilburg and has been active at Northwestern University and Stockholm School of Economics as well as being the director of the Tinbergen Institute and a partner at McKinsey.

 

 

 

 

 


Prof. dr. Sweder van Wijnbergen

Professor in Economics University of Amsterdam

Professor Sweder van Wijnbergen currently teaches Economics at the University of Amsterdam as well as continuing his advisory position for the Dutch government. He graduated in econometrics from Erasmus University after which he earned his PhD at MIT. He has served as region Chief economist at the World Bank and as Secretary General of the Ministry of Economic Affairs.

 

 

 

 

 


Prof. dr. Edgar du Perron

Professor in Private Law University of Amsterdam

Professor Edgar Du Perron currently teaches Private Law at the University of Amsterdam. He graduated in Law from the University of Amsterdam and has since been an alternate judge at the district court of The Hague, a member of Royal Dutch Shell’s Settlement Dispute Committee and a board member of the Corporate Governance Foundation.

 

 

 

 

 


Prof. dr. Ewald Engelen

Professor in Financial Geography and Ethnic Entrepreneurship at the University of Amsterdam

Professor Ewald Engelen currently teaches Financial Geography and Ethnic Entrepreneurship at the University of Amsterdam as well as being an op-ed writer for “De Groene Amsterdammer”. He graduated from the University of Amsterdam and has since been active as a member of the Waterland think-tank.
