To guarantee an awesome International Week, every student will get a buddy during their week abroad. All International Weeks around the world are working with this buddy system. The system means that every International student will have one domestic buddy that can provide a place to stay and become their buddy during the week. Becoming one’s buddy does not only mean that you are going to take care of one or more International students. As a buddy you are allowed to join several activities during the week. During these days you will be able to get to know students from whole different countries and make new global friends!
What does a buddy do?
It is an enthusiastic person that is going to provide a place to stay for one or more international participants during the three days of the International Week in Amsterdam. You can be the one that is going to give international students the real experience of what an Amsterdam student life looks like.
What do I get as a buddy?
In exchange for being a buddy you can join several activities of the International Week program in Amsterdam without any charge. You are allowed to join one of the dinners together with the participants and besides you will receive coins during Queens' day that can be spend at the Heffer. Becoming a buddy will not only guarantee you in having a nice weekend but it also gives you an opportunity to make new global friends. Other additional activities that you are allowed to attend will be announced later on and all the activities are optional.
Do I have obligations as a buddy?
As a buddy it is expected that you guarantee a place to sleep for the international students that you host. Additionally it is intended that you provide these students with a Dutch breakfast each morning but these costs will be covered by the International Week committee. So you can make yourself an extra sandwich as well.
